Watsons Solicitors is bucking the trend with business booming and recruitment on the agenda for its property department.
The Cheshire-based firm’s conveyancing division is growing because it remains “incredibly busy” despite a decline in the number of UK homes being sold in 2023, according to Zoopla.
With the costs of mortgages soaring, sales are expected to fall by 21 per cent when compared with 2022, sinking to the lowest level in more than a decade.
However, Watsons’ seven-strong property team, including Chris Illingworth, Lauren Hosie, and Steve Martin, are finding that those involved in the Warrington housing market are leaning on them more and more for expert advice.
Watsons partner and residential conveyancing specialist Chris said: “Despite other firms reporting a downturn in activity, we are still incredibly busy in our property department due primarily to the quality of our team and competitive fee structure.
“It is wonderful that we continue to grow even during these more difficult times.”
As a result of the heavy workload, Watsons is looking to recruit an experienced commercial property solicitor, ideally with 10 years or more PQE.
Chris explained: “We are keen to expand on our existing offering of commercial property work as we recognise that there is a need in Warrington.
“It is clear that not everyone wants to travel to a city lawyer in Manchester or Liverpool and pay the fees that go along with it.
“We currently have an excellent property department and the person joining us will be part of an amazing team.”
