Chris Illingworth insists that his time at Watsons Solicitors has “gone in a flash” as he reflects on five years with the law firm.
With more than 20 years of experience, Chris joined the Warrington-based company’s property team in 2020, before becoming a partner in 2021.
Now heading up the conveyancing department, which includes Lauren Hosie, Kailey Doyle, and Louise Turner, Chris is glad he made the move.
“Given my dealings with Watsons over the years, I was confident it was the right decision, and that’s exactly how it has turned out,” said Chris.
“It was a little bit of a risk given that they were covid times and things felt uncertain, but it has been great from day one to now.”
Speaking about leading the property department, Chris continued: “It just felt like a natural move to make and hopefully, I’ve held up my end of the bargain by continuing the fine work that was done under Steve Martin.
“The ‘old guard’, as it were, that was here when I joined have retired, and we are now back up to strong team of four fee earners, who all put in a lot of hard work to maintain the firm’s strong reputation in Warrington.”
Such is the esteem in which the conveyancing team at Watsons is held, Chris and his colleagues are reticent to make any drastic changes or set too lofty targets.
He said: “It has never been about taking over the world, but rather about looking after our bit really well. We have always focused on strong, steady growth.
“It doesn’t take too much to upset the balance of things and we have a team of eight, including our fabulous assistants, working every day to do the very best it can for each and every client.
“I’m proud of where the department, and indeed entire firm, is at the moment, and looking forward to another five years and beyond.”
