November 12, 2018

Watsons Solicitors is to offer free Wills in exchange for a donation to the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation.

The leading Warrington law firm, which already partners with the Foundation, will provide the service the week commencing Monday 12 November 2018.

The announcement comes in the wake of new statistics that show that half of UK adults do not have a Will.

And Alex Mitchell, a partner and head of Watsons Solicitors private client department has also warned that co-habitees in particular, who live together but have not made Wills, are particularly at risk.

Alex Mitchell said: “Contrary to popular perception, there is no such thing as a common-law wife or husband. If your live-in partner dies without a Will, you could end up with distant relatives that you don’t see or have never met inheriting the lot.

“It isn’t scaremongering to say that homelessness could become a reality for people at any age, including those who’ve lived happily with a partner for decades.”

Indeed, there is a strong argument for anyone over the age of 18 to make a Will, added Alex.

“You should think about it as soon as you start getting any assets, such as money in the bank, and not even necessarily a house, but definitely if you own or co-own a house,” she added.

“It could save a lot of upset and expense for your loved ones.

“And people put off making a Will through fear of a potentially high cost may be pleasantly surprised. The Will writing market today is competitive, which keeps down the price. At Watsons Solicitors, we also store clients’ Wills in a onsite strong room free of charge.”

“You’ll get an especially good deal if you take up the offer of a free Will in return for a donation to the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation.

“You get a professionally drawn-up Will and peace of mind, while the Foundation receives a much-needed donation for its work.

“If you need to plan for your loved ones and want to donate to an incredible charity, then do both. Every penny goes to the Foundation.”

Warrington Wolves came very close to winning silverware this season, making it to two finals, but Warrington’s Physical Disability Rugby League Team, launched by the Foundation, went one better by winning in Australia to be become World Club Champions.

The Foundation aims to build a stronger community through sport and undertakes key work in the areas of disability, mental health, volunteering and physical activity.

Founded more than 60 years ago, Watsons Solicitors specialises in wills and probate, employment law, family law and conveyancing.

Its experienced solicitors each hold accreditations and memberships of professional bodies relevant to their expertise, while the firm’s partners oversee all areas of work.
