Watsons Solicitors partners Alex Mitchell and Chris Illingworth both put their best foot forward – over and over again – as they competed at the 2023 Warrington Running Festival.
With their law firm sponsoring the world’s first free to enter, chip-timed, closed road route, Alex took part in the 10km race with Chris participating in the half marathon.
There were 6,000 people participating at the event, which started at Bank Park before the entrants navigated the town’s streets.
The festival was organised by the RunThrough Foundation, which is working to build an active and healthy nation that is inspired to create stronger community connections by running together.
Alex, a private client specialist at Watsons, said: “It was very well attended and supported, and it was lovely to see people line the streets to cheer everyone on.
“I crossed the finish line of the 10km in 56 minutes and four seconds, before heading off to Anfield to watch Liverpool beat West Ham United 3-1.
“I went into the race with some knee pain, but even after running I wasn’t going to be prevented from jumping up and down to celebrate the goals we scored.”
Residential conveyancing solicitor Chris completed the half marathon in a time of two hours, 14 minutes, and 34 seconds, despite zero training.
He said: “It was a well organised day, and I was more than happy to get around the course as quickly as I did.
“Seeing the town come together and celebrate the 6,000 competitors was fantastic.”
Partners and members of the family department, Catrin Parry and Danny Hudson, were also in attendance, the duo handing out water to those crossing the finishing line.
Danny added: “What a day! A fantastic event and a credit to the organisers. Warrington Running Festival was inspiring with people from all walks of life putting on their trainers and getting out.”
