Danny signs off as networking group chair after 15 years’ service

December 19, 2018

A partner at a leading Warrington law firm has stepped down after 15 years at the helm of a local networking group.

Danny Hudson, partner and solicitor in the family law department at Watsons Solicitors, is leaving his role as chair of Warrington First, which holds events for businesses and professionals in the region.

His departure followed the organisation’s flagship annual Christmas lunch event, with more than 100 delegates in attendance at local restaurant San Lorenzo for a festive meal and networking.

Warrington First was established in 1985, and is well known for holding events to help local organisations build relationships.

Past events have included lunches, golf days, and bowling trips, which also feature speakers on a wide range of business topics.

It also set up the Warrington Business Awards, which this year brought more than 450 delegates together to recognise achievements in the region’s economy.

Callum Morgan, Morgan Williams Chartered Surveyors, will now head up the organisation. The 27-year-old is tasked with running the group’s day-to-day affairs and events.

And his predecessor Danny is backing him to continue Warrington First’s growth in the business community.

He said: “The group provides an important service to Warrington. Without it, there would be fewer opportunities for businesses to get together and work with each other to solve problems and achieve goals.

“I am pleased to be signing off after helping to put on one of the biggest and best ever Warrington Business Awards. I still intend to work on the Warrington Business Awards committee, but I have worked with Warrington First for over 15 years. It’s time to pass the baton on to inject some new ideas and drive it forward.

“Callum is a young, talented businessman who has the right skills to help grow Warrington First and build on its strong legacy. He has particular strengths in marketing and technology which will undoubtedly help the group.”

Callum said: “I’m proud to be the new chair of Warrington First as I’m well aware of the vital role it plays for businesses in the area by allowing them to communicate with each other in an informal manner.

“There is also a significant connection for myself in that my father, Malcolm Morgan, established Warrington First over 30 years ago along with Pauline Quayle and Dennis Carton.

“Thanks to Danny’s hard work as chair, the group is well placed to develop into a bigger network for organisations of all sizes.

“The Christmas lunch was a fantastic event, and I look forward to a busy calendar for the group in 2019, with the first event anticipated to be in February 2019.”

Watsons Solicitors regularly attends Warrington First events, and sponsored the Warrington Business Awards’ businesswoman of the year category.

The firm has been established for more than 60 years, and specialises in family lawemployment lawwills and probate, and conveyancing.

Its team of experienced solicitors each hold various accreditations and memberships of professional bodies relevant to their expertise, while the firm’s partners oversee all areas of work.
