A leading Cheshire law firm is to sponsor Warrington’s Wolves ground-breaking Learning Disability Rugby League (LDRL) side.
Watsons Solicitors has signed up as the team’s shirt sponsor in the run-up to the Rugby League World Cup, which takes place this autumn.
LDRL is a modified version of the game for anyone that has a learning disability or associated condition that stops them from playing full contact rugby league.
Created after the development of its physical disability counterpart, the first season in England took place in 2019, with 14 different clubs now represented in the league.
Alex Mitchell, partner and member of the probate department, said: “As a high street law firm firmly rooted in our community, we understand how important institutions like this are, and love to contribute where we can.
“We have a long-standing relationship with the Warrington Wolves Foundation, so when the opportunity to continue that by becoming shirt sponsor for the incredibly important LDRL side came up, we jumped at the chance.
“Now is a fantastic time to get involved with supporting the team, or even for someone to try out the sport for themselves. Team sport promotes a both sense of community and self confidence in the individual. The Foundation plays a pivotal role in bringing the community of Warrington together and we are very pleased to be a little part of that.
